Andrew Klotz

KlotzPotz

Sometimes I tell people my name is Odis Winkleferd, or Tiberius Weatherspoon. Jimmy-John John Johnson is another favorite of mine. In reality my name is Andrew Peter Klotz but sometimes I perceive myself as Odis. I use my art to bridge the void between perception and reality. We perceive that art is purely a human creation. In reality our art is a loan from mother nature. We extract and refine materials from the earth to create. I attempt to remind us of that fact through my work. My work is simple; classic forms, minimal glaze, I let atmospheric firings do the talking. I also employ local feldsparic materials to add another aesthetic to some pieces. I want people to see less of man and more of nature in my pieces. Perhaps one day the ant hill sand I mix in my stoneware will fill that void. That void is where Tiberius spends his days.
